they just didn't do enough research into Twitch/streaming to understand what they needed to do to actually retain viewers. Wasn't even really the name or being out of touch. How do you guys feel about Kick as a platform for streaming, and do you think it could be a worthwhile avenue for dev-logs, play-my-game type of content, live giveaways, etc.? I watched a few decent streams (they are much less restrictive) and it sounds like viewers like to participate in giveaways and live group events, which could be great for launch events. Whether or not you agree with where that revenue comes from might be moral dilemma for some. The major benefit for content creators and streamers seems to be a larger share of revenue.
Similar to how hotels with casinos are cheaper than their game-free counterparts. Kick has put out a pretty interesting position in the streaming market offering higher sub split for creators which I think are subsidized by their 'gaming' revenue. IIRC, there used to be a lot of live gambling streams on Twitch, which were strangely popular, until Twitch banned them because (I guess) they felt it was endangering their viewer base, which tends to skew younger. They have a controversial rise to fame, which is worth reading about, but a lot of creators have been migrating there to build their audiences.
